Welcome, welcome, welcome. I welcome everything that comes to me in this moment because I know it is for my healing. I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations and conditions. I let go of my demand for security. I let go of my hunger for approval. I let go of my insistence on control. I let go of my blind desire to change any situation, condition, person, or myself. I open to the love and presence of God And the healing action and grace within.

Oh God, You are my only God I will seek you earnestly. My soul only thirsts for You. My flesh only yearns for You. In a dry and weary land where there is no water My soul only thirsts for You. My soul waits in silence for God, And my hope is only in this. Let’s use our hands and all that we know For sowing seeds and helping them grow So I thank you Lord for today I’ll move with you whichever way.

“Be still and know that I am God.” Take three deep breaths. Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you do not worry about you life; what you will eat, nor your body, what you will wear. Consider the sparrows. They neither sow nor reap. They have neither storehouse nor barn and yet God feeds them. Do you live in a context of scarcity or abundance? Do you live in a context in which you feel as though you have to hold so tightly to the things you have—to people, to money, to an identity, to time? What is it, today that you believe you cannot live without? Do you operate out of preserving as many resources - tangible or intangible - for yourself because you are afraid that if you loosen your grip you will be left with nothing? Can you imagine an alternative reality in which there is enough? A reality in which by letting go you open yourself up to a different type of fullness, a different way of experiencing the plenty? A reality in which by taking only what you need allows everyone to have enough. A reality in which giving away what you hold valuable frees you from an enslavement to it? Consider a new posture: Imagine yourself with your hands before you, open. What are you afraid of losing? Can you imagine a reality in which there is enough? Keep your hands open Keep your hands open “Be still and know that I am God.”

Natamba 02:32
Natamba A variation on Kuku, a Malinke rhythm traditionally for the women while they return from the fishing harvest. It’s use has expanded to various celebrations throughout West Africa. The Ruyankole people and language live in present day Southwestern Uganda. The rhythms and instruments used are from the region about 3,000 to the West. We don’t have access to the Runyankole drums so with respect we use ballet style West African drums and rhythms. We learned this song from a group that we can no longer get in contact with, Kampala Ministry in Kampala, Uganda. Their website (came down a few years ago, we lost contact afterward) had lyrics, translations, and streaming .mp3s of the songs. We are grateful for that project. Ours is largely inspired by their resource. We hope that you will pray for Uganda - specifically the Runyankole - who are still suffering after effects of colonialism. This song is declaring that Jesus heals even today. It’s not just a story about miracles from 2,000 years ago. Jesus continues to heal in all sorts of ways. The repetitive nature of the song can make it good for singing while working together or in a group worship setting. Usually the response is the whole phrase “Iza O’leebe, natamba Yesu natanbira bona. Iza O’leebe, natamba” but we shortened it to make it easier for beginners to sing. The call should be sung by a strong vocalist. Natamba, natamba (call) -- He heals, He heals Izya O’leebe, natamba (response) Yesu natanbira bona (call) Izya O’leebe, natamba (response) -- Come and see, He heals, Jesus heals all Here are the different “calls” Abasigazi nabatamba -- He heals even the young Abakaikuru nabataba -- He heals even the old Ne sirimu akagitamba -- He heals even those sick with HIV or AIDS Abalwaire nabatamba -- He heals even the sick

about

Who we are
Circle of Hope Audio Art is a mission team of Circle of Hope (circleofhope.net). We live in Philadelphia and the metro area. Forming this team began in early 2012 when Joseph Mahoney took the reins in attempting something we’ve attempted several times in the past unsuccessfully. Recording a handful of our original worship songs for training leaders and sharing more broadly.

We are trying out a missional process of recording and distributing worship music as a tool for training, edification, and getting Circle of Hope into new places. We are celebrating all the creativity around us and are responding to a felt need for new worship material that is creative, theologically sound, and not commercial.

We are facilitating a process for creating quality audio recordings of songs that our church uses for worship as a resource for our Public Meeting Teams as well as other interested people. We want to distribute the recordings in a way that does not succumb to the norms of the music industry – Christian or not – but promotes Kingdom entrepreneurship and good storytelling.

Why we are trying this experiment
We have written nearly 100 original songs with over a dozen songwriters and music teams contributing to our worship experiences. We’ve learned a number of ethnic songs that don’t have recordings accessible. We’ve been gifted as humans with imagination, and co-creating with Jesus moves us towards wholeness. We want to respectfully teach the songs to our music leaders. We want to offer our friends outside Philadelphia new music to use for worship. We hope that we make some new friends, new partners for Circle of Hope, and can proliferate more creativity in how we live into God’s big story in the tradition of the church and making something

How to contribute next time
This first release is digital-only. We are already working on a second release to be out before the end of the year. So far, we’ve managed to keep everything on a shoestring budget - no one is making money, we’re trying to grow a studio. Members of our team and community individually contributed to rent and the mastering. Our church has graciously allowed our rent to be deferred until we get donations (tax deductable) from people who want to support the mission of this team. You can download, share, post and pay whatever you want. We ask that you don’t commercially use the music without written permission from our team. The songwriters aren’t getting royalties, we’re hoping that we can make more music as a tool for worshipping our First Love for all the people. If our efforts are useful then we are sure we’ll find the financial support to continue. If you would like a receipt for your donation, please email us at the address at the bottom and we’ll happily send you one.

You can suggest songs for the next album to anyone on the Audio Art Team or through the email. We are starting to put together the tentative list for another 10-15 song release later this year. We’re hoping to engage more people as well as get more from the 40+ musicians (and drummers) on this first attempt.
